Biography

Dr. Fidelma Healy Eames, PhD, is an independent education, wellbeing and careers’ consultant, teacher educator, author, international election observer, and former Senator and Education spokesperson (Irish parliament).

She has an extensive record as an international contributor at education, business and political symposia with a particular interest in diversity and inclusion, world education systems, optimising the talent in organisations and the role of gender equity in transforming society for the better.

Building on the theme of diversity and inclusion, Fidelma’s recent book ‘The Gifted Learner: How to Help’ (2022) reveals a fascinating account of her research with gifted learners, ages ten to fifty-eight years of age, and how the learnings from this work is transferable and beneficial across various settings. Her earlier book ‘Switching on for Learning: A Student Guide to Exam & Career Success’ (2006) is a core text for schools interested in enabling more fulfilled, independent learners.

Dr. Healy Eames is adjunct faculty in teacher education (Hibernia College) and advisor to the Confucius Institute (University of Galway). An accredited tester with the British Psychological Society, her services include career guidance coaching and personality profiling for students and adults in career transition with the intention of enabling them to realise their potential.

A former Senator, Councillor, Education & Social Protection spokesperson, Fidelma maintains an active interest in policy and public affairs and is a regular media contributor.
