She is an economist who has built a global reputation for her prescient advice to businesses and world leaders on economic, geopolitical, technological and post-millennial trends and has a wealth of experience researching and reporting globally. Biography
Noreena graduated from university at the age of 19. By 23, she was advising the Russian government on its economic reforms and investors on M&A transactions as the Russian economy opened up to capitalism. At the age of 29, Hertz was working with the governments of Israel, Egypt, Palestine and Jordan on the role economics could play in The Middle East Peace Process.
Described by the Observer as “one of the world’s leading young thinkers”, by Vogue as “one of the world’s most inspiring women” and on the cover of Newsweek’s September 30th 2013 issue “Noreena is known for her visionary ideas”. Her thinking served as the inspiration for Bono’s Project (RED). She is a Board Member of Warner Music Group, on the Advisory Board RWE AG and sits on various charitable boards.
Noreena’s best-selling books, The Silent Takeover, IOU: The Debt Threat and Eyes Wide Open, are published in 22 countries. She is regularly sought after as a Keynote Speaker and has given Keynote Speeches at TED, The World Economic Forum and Google Zeitgeist as well as for leading global corporations, sharing platforms with such luminaries as President Bill Clinton, Professor Stephen Hawking and David Beckham.
She holds a Visiting Professorship at University College London and has an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD from the University of Cambridge.
Noreena’s ongoing research on what she calls Generation Katniss (14 – 21 year olds) was launched at the World Economic Forum in Davos and at the Women in the World Economic Summit in New York City and has already been featured in publications including The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Daily Telegraph, El Pais and The Financial Times.
