Aer Arann Founder, Entrepreneur and Former Senator

Founder of Aer Arann and Aer Lingus Regional, Pádraig was nominated for World Entrepreneur of the Year and has twice been invited back as a judge. In total, Pádraig has created over 1,000 full time jobs in Ireland.

 

Biography

A fluent Gaelic speaker and Connemara native, Pádraig received his third level education in NUIG before having careers in accountancy, teaching (Coláiste Iognáid) and as a solicitor.

He is passionate about community support and has led fundraising events which raised significant amounts for Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin, Temple Street Hospital in Dublin and various other charities over the years. He is also patron to a number of other charities. Pádraig served as an Independent Senator (nominated by the Taoiseach) and member of the Joint Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport from 2016-2020.

He is Adjunct professor of Entrepreneurship and Business in NUI Galway, was Chair of the Business School Advisory Board, an alumni of NUIG and Harvard Business School. He was awarded Business Alumni of the Year by NUIG. He is a former recipient of the Ernst and Young Irish Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He is a former board member of RTÉ, CROI, Board Iascaigh Mhara, Fáilte Ireland West and Chair of the National GAA Research Board.

He is also founder of a number of other companies in the following sectors: publishing, music, aircraft maintenance, outsourcing, homecare and internet marketing
