Eclectic Entrepreneur, Comedy Writer, Adviser to last three UK Prime Ministers

Paul co-founded ground-breaking social action campaigns including TimeBank, Change the World for a Fiver, The Big Lunch and Your Square Mile. He started life writing comedy with the likes of Ian Hislop and Chris Tarrant, became a guru of British advertising, set up marketing at the BBC and worked with the last three UK Prime Ministers.

 

Paul was the youngest ever Board Director in advertising. During his 34-year career, he co-founded two seminal communications agencies - Still Price Court Twivy D’Souza Lintas (now DLKW Lowe) and Circus Communications - and has led some of the most respected advertising agencies in the world. His posts have included Deputy Chairman at JWT; Group Chief Executive of Bates and Chief Strategic Planning Officer, EMEA for McCann-Erickson.

He has worked on some of the most famous campaigns in advertising including Fosters lager, Mates condoms, Peperami, Halifax Building Society, Heinz, Persil, the Andrex puppy and Gold Blend.

He was also Marketing Advisor to the BBC and has held a number of Non Exec positions in design, communications and telecoms.

Paul has been heavily involved in many groundbreaking charity and public service initiatives, working personally with the last three UK Prime Ministers.

He has also run innovation workshops for many of the world’s best-known companies and brands.

Paul has launched a new consultancy called Core Purpose that enables organisations to combine their social and commercial objectives into one inspiring Core Purpose, which then delivers measurably better performance and a stronger contribution to society.

Paul has appeared on many Radio and TV programmes including Today, Midweek, Saturday Live, the Tube, the Vanessa Feltz Show and BBC and Channel 4 News. He also took a leading role in “Making the Break”: a television documentary on advertising.

He has given speeches around the world for many years, and has written numerous articles and book reviews for publications as diverse as The Guardian, the Financial Times, Creative Review, Market Leader, Third Sector and Campaign.

Paul has written two short books on small, local ways to make wider changes: 'Easy Ways to Serve The Big Lunch: A Guide to Human Warming: 2009' and 'Change the World for a Fiver'. His most recent book, 'Be Your Own Politician: Why It’s Time for a New Kind of Politics' was published in 2015.
