With his motto ‘‘Putting the Why into Wellness,’ Dr Kelly believes that great results come when people align their health with their sense of purpose in life. It all starts with listening to the person in front of you; when people feel ‘heard’, they’re more likely to take responsibility for their health. And greater buy-in delivers better outcomes, though it also means a more personalised approach is required by both medics and those working in Corporate Wellness. His talks on these and other issues such as work stress, nutrition and healthy living are empowering, accessible and highly motivating.

Dr Kelly’s work in the new and increasingly important field of Lifestyle Medicine is underpinned by the idea of agency. This work grew from his twin passions of cardiology, which treats conditions that are often lifestyle related, and technology, a key tool for empowering both the medic and the patient by giving them greater control over their health. His point, ultimately, is that if we’re to address our health issues effectively, we must innovate - with both our thinking and the technology at our disposal.

Dr Kelly’s expertise and success mean that his work in Lifestyle Medicine is fast gaining momentum, credibility and widespread recognition. He has contributed several articles in this area to the Irish Times, appeared on RTE, and delivered talks in the RSCI and other organisations in both Ireland and the U.S.
